U.S. Urged to Roll back Its Hostile Policy toward DPRK
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, January 12 (KCNA) -- It is a very urgent task for ensuring peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and other parts of Northeast Asia to put an end to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK.
Rodong Sinmun Saturday says this in a by-lined article.
It cites facts to prove that the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK has laid a great obstacle in the way of reunification of Korea, the cherished desire of the Korean nation, and seriously affected the peaceful development of the country.
When looking back on history, the U.S. escalated tensions on the Korean Peninsula through all sorts of moves whenever there was a sign of detente, the article notes, and goes on:
The extremely hostile policy pursued by the U.S. conservative hard-liners toward the DPRK has pushed the situation to the brink of war, touching off bitterness toward the U.S. among the Koreans.
The above-said policy of the U.S. should not be allowed to persist as it is an anachronistic one.
What the Korean nation wants is not division but peace and reunification.
Koreans are making every effort to promote national reconciliation and unity and achieve peace, prosperity and reunification in the idea of "By our nation itself."
The above-said U.S. policy is a main obstacle to the development of the inter-Korean relations.
It is also quite contrary to the trend of the present era and the desire of the humankind.
The main trends of the present era are not war and confrontation but reconciliation, cooperation and development.
The U.S. should not turn aside from this development and the changing world but swim with the trend of the times.
When the above-said U.S. policy comes to an end and peace settles on the peninsula, the world will be left without a hotspot where the situation remains tensest and the desire of humankind for peace will, accordingly, come true much earlier than expected, concludes the article.
