o Inside North Korea
- (Feb. 6) The North Korean Central Broadcasting Station reported, “The Rally of Pioneers for the Military-First Revolution, which opened on February 5 in the presence of high-ranking officials of the party, the government and the military as well as those who performed meritorious service for the military-first revolution, was closed on February 6."
- (Feb. 7-8) North Korean Central TV reported, "After his on-site guidance for revolutionary undertakings in the city of Cheongjin and the Cheongjin Mining and Metal College, Kim Jeong-il visited the Cheongjin Basic Food Factory, the Military-People Power Plant and Jang Yoon-ho Fish Farm.”
- (Feb. 10) The North Korean Central News Agency reported, "On February 9, the Ministry of the People’s Armed Forces gave a presentation extolling the greatness of Kim Jeong-il at April 25 Cultural Hall in Pyongyang, with Deputy Marshall Cho Myeong-Rok, Kim Yeong-Chun, Kim Il-Chul and Park Jae-Gyeong on hand.”
- (Feb. 11) The North Korean Central Broadcasting Station said in its editorial, "Young storming party members and builders of Taecheon Youth Power Plant IV have established the spirit of Taecheon by completing construction of the power plant under the revolutionary and combative spirit of overcoming any hardship in a struggle for self-reliant rehabilitation." It also stated that all laborers and workers must thoroughly implement the spirit and combativeness of Taecheon in all aspects of the people’s economy, bringing about a great breakthrough in the endeavor to build a socialist economic power.”
o Outside North Korea
- (Feb. 7) The North Korean Pyongyang Broadcasting Service alleged, "The US has been branded a country that never considers other nations’ interests based on its hegemonic and authoritarian policies. The Bush administration’s wrongful foreign policies will eventually plunge the US into failure as a country deserted by other members of the international community.”
- (Feb. 9) The North Korean Central News Agency denounced Japan, arguing that "Japan’s attempt to raise the abduction issue in this round of six-party talks is an underhanded act aimed at derailing the talks.”
- (Feb. 9) The North Korean Pyongyang Broadcasting Service contended, "The unfair US policy of applying double standards regarding nuclear development will ultimately paralyze the global regime banning the spread of nuclear weapons and will destroy international stability. Therefore, such unfair double standards should never be allowed.”
o Inter-Korean Issues
- (Feb. 8) North Korea’s Rodong Shinmun maintained, "The Grand National Party, which is treacherous to the entire Korean people, is now daring to make a grab for power while cozying up to the US and more ferociously adhering to suppressive, fascist anti-unification policies.”
- (Feb. 9) The North Korean Committee for Peaceful Unification of the Fatherland argued in a statement issued by a spokesperson, "Recently, people in various sectors of South Korean society, including pro-unification patriots and progressive reformists, have been suppressed through charges of espionage benefiting the enemy under the National Security Act.”
- (Feb. 10) North Korean Central TV reported, "A spokesperson for the Central Committee of the North Korean General Federation of Trade Unions released a statement to the effect that it supports South Korean people’s struggle against the signing of an FTA with the US and the South Korean government must stop its humiliating negotiations.”
