16th Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Assumption of KPA Supreme Commandership Marked

   Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- Papers here Monday editorially observe the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army.
    Rodong Sinmun says: The Korean revolution has won victory after victory despite unprecedented ordeals and difficulties in history and the DPRK is now displaying its might as an invincible politico-ideological and military power because it has held the great brilliant commanders of Songun as supreme commander of the revolutionary armed forces generation after generation.
    Kim Jong Il is a great statesman and a peerlessly brilliant commander of Songun as he has led the revolutionary cause of Juche to victory while giving priority to armed forces, the daily notes, and goes on:
    It is Kim Jong Il who enunciated the idea and theory on building the revolutionary army into the army of the leader and the party for the first time in history and successfully materialized them and created the great Songun political mode, the basic socialist political mode in our era, ushering in a new brilliant era of building the army and a socialist power.
    It is thanks to the energetic leadership of Kim Jong Il who has trained the People's Army as the army of the party and the leader steadfastly carrying forward the tradition of Mt. Paektu that the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK have firmly defended the idea and exploits of President Kim Il Sung with arms and displayed their might as a powerful main force of the Songun revolution.
    The Songun idea, the Juche idea of the President, is shedding its eternal rays as the only guiding idea in the DPRK today and all work related to the revolution and construction is being conducted the way the President did under any circumstances.
    The DPRK has steadily pushed forward the drive to implement the behest of the President, always holding him in high esteem as he explored the road of the revolution. This is a stirring reality which can be seen in the DPRK which holds Kim Jong Il as supreme commander of the revolutionary armed forces.
    It is the immortal historic exploits performed by him that he has remarkably augmented the political and military might of the country, demonstrating its dignity and honor as a sovereign country.
    Minju Joson calls upon all the people to make more vigorous endeavors to victoriously advance the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation and finally accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
