Chief of KPA General Staff on Tense Situation on Korean Peninsula

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The situation of the Korean Peninsula still remains tense owing to the U.S. invariable war moves, said General of the Korean People's Army Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the KPA General Staff, in his report at the national meeting held here Sunday to celebrate the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of office as supreme commander of the KPA.
All the facts, he said, show that the U.S. is talking about "dialogue" and "negotiation" but it is actually scheming to "destabilize" the DPRK's system by all vicious means and methods while resorting to the moves to invade the DPRK.
He further said: We are paying deep attention to the fact that the U.S. mobilizes Japan and other satellite forces to persistently pursue the hostile policy toward the DPRK. If the hostile forces refuse to stop the large-scale war exercises and huge arms buildup, we will resolutely counter such actions with more powerful means.
