DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesman on Recovery from Flood Damage

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK today gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA as regards the successful progress made by the DPRK in the efforts to recover from the flood damage in a brief span of time:
As already known, our country as a whole was hit by unprecedented torrential rain and strong wind in August last that caused big casualties and material losses.
The DPRK government made every possible effort to eradicate the aftermath of the disaster by mobilizing all forces. As a result, the country brought the living of the people in all the afflicted areas to normal and prevented the outbreak of infectious diseases and rehabilitated in the main the houses, factories, enterprises and farm land and power network, railways, roads, bridges and other infrastructure left submerged or destroyed.
The medicines, food and other relief materials sent by the United Nations and other international organizations, different countries and organizations as emergency aid helped the Korean people facilitate the work to recover from the flood damage in a short period.
The DPRK feels grateful for this.
The DPRK will continue to make efforts to boost the cooperation with international organizations and different countries in the future, too.
