Korean people Emerge Victorious with Spirit of "Arduous March"

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- Members of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army under the command of President Kim Il Sung marched from Nanpaizi to Beidadingzi for over 100 days from early December Juche 27 (1938) to the end of next March.
It was an arduous march during which they had to overcome extreme food difficulty, fatigue and deadly diseases on top of fierce battles with enemies in intense cold.
The anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners, the first generation of the Korean revolution, tided over manifold hardships, defended the destiny of the Korean revolution and carried out the historic task of advance to the homeland by giving full play to the spirit of guarding the leader with their very lives, the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, the spirit of breaking the deadlock and the spirit of revolutionary optimism in the arduous march.
The spirit of the "Arduous March" displayed by the Korean people in the 1990s is the succession and embodiment of the indomitable revolutionary spirit of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners.
During the "Arduous March" and the forced march, the army and people of Korea had wrought world-startling miracles with the revolutionary soldier spirit and the Kanggye spirit.
Under the slogan "Let us take charge of national defence and the socialist construction!", the servicepersons made a breakthrough for advance on the major construction sites including the Anbyon Youth Power Station and the main fronts of the socialist construction, while protecting the defence line of the country as firm as a rock.
The people of Jagang Province held high the slogan "Let's always be cheerful although our path is thorny!" and erected medium- and small-sized power stations in various parts of the province, defying acute shortage of food, power and raw materials. They put the production on a normal stage by tapping all internal reserves. In this course they created the Kanggye spirit to be applied throughout the country.
In those days, the spirit of Songgang and Ranam was created and good examples of creation and construction set to ensure that people could leap higher and advance faster.
The Korean people had built power stations, rezoned fields suited to the appearance of socialist Korea and constructed salterns in the east coastal area, goat farms, Youth Hero Motorway and other monumental edifices of eternal value, tightening their belts. These creations reflect unswerving faith and will of the army and people of Korea to bring about the rosy morrow of the rich and prosperous country by their own efforts.
The spirit of "Arduous March" is a precious asset of the Korean revolution that cannot be bartered for anything, and it serves as an ideological and mental power for the army and people to emerge victorious at all times.
