Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the fifth anniversary of Kim Jong Il's famous work "Let Us Fulfill the Duty as Citizens of the DPRK with Civic Awareness".
In the work published on September 5, Juche 91 (2002), Kim Jong Il clarified that civic duty represents honor, conscience and obligation of a citizen and that a person remaining true to his civic duty is a genuine patriot.
The will to make the DPRK led by Kim Jong Il rich and powerful and glorify it forever by working heart and soul has become the noble consciousness of the Korean people as citizens, the article notes, and says:
The Korean people's noble civic awareness can be found in the fact that they hold in high esteem and devotedly safeguard their leader while devoting themselves to the national defence true to the Workers' Party of Korea's Songun policy.
It is also clearly manifested in the fact that they are devotedly and faithfully working for prosperity of the country at their posts entrusted by the Party.
The Korean people devote their all to performing their duty as soldiers and citizens living under the care of Kim Jong Il, missing him on a long journey of Songun.
To them, it has become the sacred duty as DPRK citizens to value the destiny of the country more than their own and dedicate themselves to defending the socialist homeland of Juche. Through the grim struggle of last more than ten years they have cherished it as their immovable faith that the country can be firmly defended and socialism glorified only when they remain true to the Songun policy of the Party.
It is the Korean people's unshakable creed that arms precisely represent the dignity of the country and they can live without candy, but not without bullets.
