Drive to Clear away Flood Damage Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- Officials and working people in various parts of the country are now busy with the drive to clear away the flood damage.
The Cabinet, commissions and ministries are taking concrete actions to preferentially supply cement and steel and other necessary materials to those units hit by flood on the basis of the specific information about the damage.
A brisk drive is now under way in the flood-stricken areas under the concern of the whole state and society and with their positive support. Working people in Sinphyong, Koksan, Singye, Yonsan and Sohung counties of North Hwanghae Province which were hard hit by the flood are busy reconstructing the destroyed dwelling houses and public buildings, bringing the living of the inhabitants to normal and keeping the inundated farm land in good order.
Work is progressing apace to rehabilitate the destroyed roads and bridges and clear away the damage done to farm land in such flood-stricken areas as Yangdok, Sinyang, Maengsan and Pukchang counties of South Phyongan Province.
South Hwanghae Province and Kangwon Province are pushing forward the work to deepen ditches and reinforce dykes.
Successes in the recovery work are being reported from different flood-stricken places and units in Pyongyang including Rungra Islet, the Changgwang Health Complex and the Mangyongdae Fun Fair.
Railway service has resumed since many sections of railroads were restored in a brief span of time through a high-pitched drive for rehabilitation in the field of railway transport.
Officials and working people in the field of post and telecommunications are also proving successful in restoring the destroyed or submerged sectors of cables.
