Torrential Rains Continue to Pour in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Rainstorms continue to pour in different parts of the DPRK owing to the rainy front.
The precipitations of rains in Phyonggang County of Kangwon Province, Phyongsong, Sunchon and Tokchon cities and Pukchang, Maengsan, Songchon and Yangdok counties of South Phyongan Province, Kujang and Hyangsan Counties of North Phyongan Province and Pyongyang between 09:00 on the 9th of August and 12:00 on the 11th were 367, 346, 307, 333, 355, 320, 295, 233, 287, 280 and 257 mm respectively.
Besides, 38 cities and counties witnessed rain precipitation of 100-200 mm.
Heavy rains of 54-89 mm fell in Sinphyong, Singye and Suan counties of North Hwanghae Province between 09:00 and 12:00 on the 10th.
A large acreage of land under cultivation has been submerged, washed away or buried and roads, railways, river banks, dwelling houses, public buildings and many other objects have been destroyed or collapsed.
The government of the DPRK has taken every possible measure to preferentially supply materials needed for the rehabilitation of the affected areas and is rendering medicines and daily necessities to the people there so that their life can be stabilized as early as possible.
Officials and working people in various parts of the country have turned out as one in the relief and rehabilitation activities.
