All Koreans Called upon to Display Patriotism

   Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- The love of the country and the nation serves as a solid ideological and moral basis on which to achieve national unity and consolidate it.
    Rodong Sinmun today observes this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
    It is the shining tradition and national peculiarities of the Koreans to ardently love the country and the nation and value their dignity more than anything else.
    The national identity of the Koreans more excellent than any other nations and their patriotic spirit serve as a source of strength to rejoin the severed blood ties of the divided nation.
    The Koreans strong in patriotism ardently desire national unity irrespective of ideology, ism and system.
    They are growing stronger in their desire and will to achieve reunification by their concerted efforts and every Korean is keenly interested in achieving the great unity of the whole nation, a sure guarantee for national reunification.
    There are differing ideologies and social systems in the north and the south.
    But it is not two different nations that live separated with the military demarcation line in between but the homogenous nation which still remains divided into two despite its strong desire to become one again.
    No matter how big the difference between the north and south in the ideology and system may be it can never put into the shade the common denominator of the Korean nation formed and developed through its long history.
    If all members of the nation turn out in the struggle for national reunification, prompted by the attitude and spirit of loving the country and nation they can certainly pool will and efforts to realize great national unity.
    The Korean nation has every condition and possibility to achieve the national unity.
    The five point-policy of great national unity unrolled by Kim Jong Il reflecting the requirements of the reality, pursuant to President Kim Il Sung's noble idea and policy of achieving great national unity clearly indicates the way to be followed by the Koreans to achieve reconciliation, unity and independent reunification.
    All compatriots are holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the central figure for achieving national unity as he is the sun of the Korean nation and outstanding Songun brilliant commander.
