Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex.
He looked round the rooms dedicated to the education in the revolutionary history and the history of the complex.
Recollecting with deep emotion the history of the development of the complex, he said that the complex turned into the nation's Juche-oriented leading powerful metallurgical base under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung.
He went round the newly built Coke Oven No. 4 and other places to learn about the technological updating of the complex and the production there.
He appreciated the efforts exerted by the workers of the complex, expressing satisfaction over the fact that they have successfully finished the huge construction of the coke oven and the reconstruction of the sintering furnace by their own efforts and technique.
The complex can put the production on a high level if it further speeds up the technological updating and scrupulously organizes the economic work including the measures for the supply of raw materials, he noted.
He put forward the tasks to be implemented by the complex.
He said that the workers of the complex should live and struggle with the same spirit and stamina with which they built socialism from scratch after the war.
He expressed the expectation and belief that the workers of the complex would bring about a fresh surge in the production of iron and steel through a devoted drive and thus creditably perform their honorable mission and duty as soldiers on the outpost duty and pioneers in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
He was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the WPK Central Committee.
