Immortal Feats Performed in Efforts to Implement President's Instruction for National Reunification

   Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il published the famous work "Let Us Carry out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" on August 4, Juche 86 (1997).
    On this occasion, the Korean people look back with warm hearts upon the feats performed by the leader who has made imperishable patriotic true records for reunification, regarding the implementation of the instruction of President Kim Il Sung for national reunification as the supreme task.
    He, in his work, formulated the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the plan of establishing the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo, which fully reflect the ideas and intention of the President for the national reunification, into the three charters for national reunification. Basing himself on this, he put forward the fundamental principles, tasks and ways to achieve the reunification.
    Over the last decade, he has upheld the banner of independence and implemented it in the reunification movement of the Korean nation in accordance with the intention of the President.
    The DPRK had to undergo the "Arduous March" and forced march caused by the U.S. imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle it and natural disasters after the demise of President Kim Il Sung. In the years, he overpowered the tough policy of the anti-reunification forces with tougher one and thwarted the attempt of foreign forces to meddle in the affairs of the Korean nation and thus led the efforts to realize the dialogue, contact, cooperation and exchange between the north and the south thoroughly on the principle of national independence.
    The historic Pyongyang summit in June 2000 gave a great hope and pleasure to all the fellow-countrymen.
    Thanks to his energetic efforts, it resulted in making a breakthrough into the blockade between the north and the south which had been existed for 55 years and publishing the June 15 Joint Declaration, the milestone for national reunification in the 21st century, in 50-odd hours.
    It has become a usage that grand festivals for national reunification are held with the participation of a lot of representatives of the north, south and overseas on August 15, June 15 and other important occasions every year. And the June 15 All-Korean Committee was established as a standing and nation-wide organization for reunification movement. As a result, the efforts of the nation for reunification are being further organized and popularized.
    The reality glaringly shows that the ideas and feats of the President for the national reunification are shining and the dawn for the independent reunification, the wish of the President is breaking over the 3,000-ri land of Korea under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
