Internal Affairs
- According to the reports by the Central Broadcasting Station on June 30 and July 1, North Korea was intensifying measures to prevent flood damage.
- Pyongyang Broadcasting Services reported on July 1 that a pig farm was newly built in Ganggye city, Jagang Province .
- Commemorating the 13 th anniversary of Kim Il-song’s death, North Korea has praised his greatness and achievement through diverse media since early July.
Inter-Korean Affairs
- The spokesperson of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland announced a statement to commemorate the 35 th anniversary of the July 4 Joint Statement, reported Korean Central News Agency on July 3.
- The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had an interview with a reporter of Korean Central News Agency and said North Korea would begin to shut down Yongbyun nuclear facilities as soon as the first shipment of heavy oil arrives, reported Pyongyang Broadcasting Services on July 6.
Foreign Affairs
- Korean Central News Agency recently released a bill of indictment, condemning Japan for making efforts to turn into a military power including revision of Peace Constitution and reinforcement of the Self-Defense Forces’ military strength.
- Through the statement by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 1 and report by Chosun Sinbo on July 4, North Korea criticized Japan for its suppression on Chongryun such as a compulsory search and violence.
- China ’s Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi visited North Korea from July 2 to 4 and discussed the relations between the two nations and six party talks with Chairman Kim Jong-il and other high-level officials.
- Han Song-ryol, former North Korea’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations who was visiting London invited by Chatham House maintained on July 4 that the U.S. sanction against North Korea should be lifted for the implementation of the February 13 Agreement.
