Rodong Sinmun Calls for Nationwide Struggle for Peace on Korean Peninsula

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday calls for defending peace on the Korean Peninsula through a nationwide struggle.
In an editorial on the lapse of 57 years since the United States ignited a war for aggression against the DPRK in the 1950s, the paper says:
The Korean war was a war of aggression unleashed by the U.S. against the DPRK for the purpose of occupying the whole of Korea by force of arms and a war of brutal murder and destruction unprecedented in the world history of wars.
Under the wise guidance of the party and the leader, the officers and men of the heroic Korean People's Army and all the people of the country rose up like a mountain in the struggle to defend the motherland and fought a death-defying fight, thus giving a disgraceful defeat to the provocateurs and honorably defending the territorial integrity of the country, the sovereignty of the nation and the gains of revolution.
The U.S., forgetful of the lesson of the Korean war, has escalated the aggressive moves against the DPRK, persisting as ever in its design to dominate the whole of Korea even after the war.
No one makes a present of peace to the Korean Peninsula. It must be won by all the members of the nation living in this land by their own struggle. All the fellow countrymen living in this land should turn out as one man in the fight for peace against war, staking their destiny and the future of the nation, and oppose the moves for aggression and war and ensure a durable peace.
The fellow countrymen in the north and the south must never forget even a moment the bloody lesson of calamities suffered by them at the hand of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in Sinchon, Rogun-ri and other areas during the Korean war.
The south Korean people of all strata should wage a relentless struggle to put an end to the occupation of south Korea by the U.S. forces, the root cause of aggression and war, and never tolerate the reckless military rackets and acts of aggression inciting distrust and hostile feelings against the fellow countrymen and threatening peace of the country in collusion with foreign forces.
