Internal Affairs

  • According to the report by Chosun Sinbo on June 21, North Korea was preparing to register historic relics in Gaeseong city and cultural and natural heritage in Mt. Myohyang as mixed properties on the World Heritage List.
  • The Central Broadcasting Station reported on June 26 that Chairman Kim Jeong-il watched an art performance given by the Russian State Academic People’s Chorus named after M.E. Pyatnichki on June 25.
  • The Central Broadcasting Station reported on June 26 that mass rally was held at Pyongyang Stadium on June 25, the Day of Struggle against the U.S.
  • The Central Broadcasting Station reported on June 26 that production was increasing at duck farm in Bukchang, Pyongannamdo.
  • According to the report by the Central Broadcasting Station on June 26, workers of Ministry of Coal Industry and Administration Council were devising measures to normalize the production of coal even in the rainy season.
  • The Central Broadcasting Station reported on June 27 that the 10 th National Taekwon-do Championships for Jongilbong Cup was opened at Taekwon-do hall, Pyongyang on June 27.

Inter-Korean Affairs

  • The spokesperson of the Korean National Peace Committee announced a statement on June 29 and maintained the United Nations Command should be dissolved and the U.S. Armed Forces in Korea should be withdrawn.
  • Through a comment in Pyongyang Broadcasting Services on July 1, North Korea asserted that the United Nations Command should be dissolved as soon as possible.

Foreign Affairs

  • European Parliament Delegation, led by MEP Hubert Pirker visited North Korea from June 23 to 26 and had talks with the delegation of the Supreme People’s Assembly to discuss matters of mutual interest including expansion of cooperation between EU and North Korea.
  • Through Rodong Daily and Pyongyang Broadcasting Services from June 26 to 28, North Korea has continuously criticized Japan for its advertisement on the Washington Post regarding sex slaves and its suppression of Chongryun.
  • A working-level delegation of IAEA, led by Deputy Director General Oli Heinonen, visited North Korea from June 26 to 30 and discussed the matter of shutdown and inspection of nuclear facilities for the implementation of February 13 Agreement.
