Internal Affairs
- The Pyongyang Broadcasting Services reported on June 12 that hundreds of discharged soldiers in Daehungdan-gun and Samjiyeon-gun graduated from Hyesan Agricultural and Forestry College on June 9.
- The Pyongyang Broadcasting Services reported on June 13 that the 33 rd National Sports Contests of School Youth and Children for “Jongilbong Cup” began at basketball stadium in Chongchun Street in Pyongyang on June 12.
- The Pyongyang Broadcasting Services reported on June 14 that remodeling and extending are being progressed at Gyenam Stock Farm in Shinwon-gun, Hwanghae-namdo.
- The Central Broadcasting Station reported on June 15 that the 5 th memorial service for the former president of the International Taekwondo Federation Choi Honghee was held.
- According to the report by the Central Broadcasting Station on June 17, unconverted long-term prisoner Lee Inmo died at 89 on June 16.
- The Central Broadcasting Station reported on June 18 that Chairman Kim Jeong-il watched a performance by art groups of servicemen’s families of Unit572, 564, 966, 264, 526, and 233 of the KPA that participated in the 10 th contest among art groups of servicemen’s families.
Inter-Korean Affairs
- The June 15 Grand National Unification Festival, commemorating the 7 th anniversary of the June 15 Joint Declaration was held in Pyongyang from June 14 to 17, attended by 284 South Korean private delegates, 132 Overseas delegates, and 300 North Korean delegates.
- Through an editorial of the Rodong Daily, North Korea reported that it obtained a lot of results for the seven years since the June 15 Joint Declaration.
Foreign Affairs
- The Sino-North Korea relations that had not been amicable since the North’s nuclear test, improved by Chairman Kim Jeong-il’s visit to the Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang and the two nations exchanged friendship delegations each other in June.
- North Korea has continuously criticized Japan for diverse issues including distorting history, following the U.S. , and pursuing militarism.
- The Rodong Daily printed an editorial on June 12 to criticize the U.S. for maintaining the U.S. Armed Forces contributed to the stabilization of the Korean peninsula and development of democracy in South Korea , saying it is a whopping lie.
- The Rodong Daily printed an editorial on June 12 to criticize the U.S. for causing delay in solving the nuclear problem by raising humanitarian concerns.
- The delegates of the World Intellectual Property Organization arrived in Pyongyang on June 12 and participated in the ‘National Discussion Meeting on Trade mark, Industrial Design, and Place of Origin’(June 13~14, People’s Palace of Culture).
- The spokesperson of the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a statement to criticize the U.S. for planning to establish missile defense system.
