Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the field of the preservation of revolutionary sites in Kanggye City.
He was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK.
The first leg of his guidance was the Ryudong Revolutionary Site.
This is a historic place where President Kim Il Sung stayed from February 26 to 28, 1953 during the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War, setting forth a strategic policy on further consolidating the rear and giving strong support to the front to bring earlier the final victory in the war.
After being briefed on the revolutionary site before the monument to the site, Kim Jong Il walked round the historic buildings standing as they were before to acquaint himself in detail with the management and operation of the revolutionary site and education conducted there.
Noting that there are many historic sites associated with the sacred revolutionary activities of the President in Jagang Province, he said it is, therefore, necessary to preserve them in their original state and strengthen the education through them to more thoroughly equip the Party members and other working people, servicepersons and school youth and children with the revolutionary idea of the President.
The next leg of his guidance was the Jagang Provincial Museum of Revolutionary Activities of Kim Il Sung.
Systematically displayed at the museum are historic relics related to dozens of visits paid by him to the province to wisely lead its work.
After visiting the museum, Kim Jong Il said that Jagang Province, once called a remote mountainous region unfit for human habitation, turned into people's land of bliss under the wise leadership and deep care of the President.
He set forth tasks to be fulfilled to manage and operate the revolutionary museum and intensify the education through it, noting that it is one of the important centers for education to arm the Party members and other working people, servicepersons and school youth and children with the revolutionary idea of the WPK.
He appreciated a performance given by the Jagang Provincial Art Group.
