June 15 Era of Reunification Sure to Triumph under Kim Jong Il's Leadership

   Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- The cause of national independence and the cause of the country's reunification are sure to emerge victorious thanks to the leadership of Kim Jong Il over the movement for national reunification as all Koreans single-mindedly revere him as a peerless patriot, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article.
    The June 15 joint declaration was a great fruition of Kim Jong Il's noble idea of national independence, his energetic leadership over the movement for national reunification and broad magnanimity based on patriotism, the article notes, and goes on:
    The historic Pyongyang meeting and the June 15 joint declaration brought about the phase of historic turning point in which the north and the south advance towards reconciliation, unity and independent reunification through national cooperation.
    Now all Koreans in the north, the south and abroad are waging a dynamic struggle to achieve the independent reunification, regarding "By our nation itself" as their common idea of reunification, irrespective of ideology and ism.
    Kim Jong Il expounded the idea of giving importance to arms, the idea that peace and security of the country and the destiny of the nation are guaranteed by the force of arms, trained the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK into invincible armed forces and provided powerful war deterrent for self-defence firmly guaranteeing peace on this land. By doing so, he gave steady continuity to the June 15 era of reunification and enabled not only the people in the north but also the fellow countrymen in the south to live in peace, benefited from the Songun politics. Thanks to the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il, peace on the Korean Peninsula has been firmly protected and the national history is making steady advance towards reconciliation and reunification.
    Kim Jong Il kindly invites whoever stands for national reunification with national conscience to join the ranks of Koreans keen to achieve great national unity, be he a capitalist, an army general or one in the upper crust of the ruling quarters. This all-embracing policy based on patriotism serves as a key driver in the era of national reconciliation and unity, the June 15 era of reunification.
    Kim Jong Il is, indeed, a great leader of the nation who enjoys the high authority amid the unanimous respect and boundless praise from all Koreans in the north, the south and abroad irrespective of ideology and system as he has made immortal contributions to the sacred patriotic cause for the country and the nation.
    There are still many difficulties and obstacles in the way of national reunification. However, the Korean nation is firmly convinced of the victory of the June 15 era of reunification.
