Samsu Power Station Commissioned in DPRK

   Samsu, May 9 (KCNA) -- A ceremony of commissioning the Samsu Power Station was held on the spot on Wednesday.
    The completion of the power station will make it possible to well preserve and manage the revolutionary battle sites and historic sites in the area of Mt. Paektu in their original state, satisfactorily address the power problem in the area of Samjiyon and bring about a turn in improving the standard of people's living and economic development.
    A congratulatory message of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to the members and officials of the 618 construction shock brigade who performed labor feats in the construction of the power station and their helpers was conveyed there.
    The WPK Central Committee in the congratulatory message highly praised the builders involved in the construction of the power station and their helpers for having displayed matchless heroism and devotion true to the WPK's grand nature-remaking plan and built another monumental structure in the era of Songun.
    The WPK Central Committee in the message expressed the conviction that officials, the party members and other working people including the builders of the power station would achieve greater successes in performing their revolutionary duties true to Kim Jong Il's Songun leadership and thus creditably live up to the trust and expectation of the Party.
    Kwak Pom Gi, vice-premier of the Cabinet, speaking at the ceremony recalled that Kim Jong Il clearly indicated the ways and methods for successfully carrying out the project on dozens of occasions, took measures to supply materials for the project and showed warm loving care for the members of the shock brigade.
    Referring to the intense loyalty and the do-or-die spirit fully displayed by the builders in the construction of the power station, the speaker said that the station is a precious edifice the Korean people built despite manifold difficulties under the guidance of the Party.
    He called for directing sustained great efforts to building the area of Samjiyon so as to turn the area into a fairyland of socialism and stepping up the construction of the Pukchong-Hyesan Highway, etc. and managing and operating the power station in a responsible manner.
    The ceremony was attended by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, members of the 618 construction shock brigade and officials and working people from relevant units and Ryanggang Province.
