Pyongyang City Meeting Marks Anniversary of Kim Il Sung's Work

Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- A Pyongyang city meeting was held at Central Youth Hall Wednesday to mark the 35th publication anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's famous work "On the Three Principles of National Reunification".
Kim Il Sung in his work clarified the three principles which call for achieving national reunification independently and peacefully on the principle of promoting great national unity free from outside interference under any circumstances and the specific issues arising in achieving the reunification of the country on this basis.
A report was made by Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and vice-chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland.
He said that the three principles--independence, peaceful reunification and the great national unity--serve as a programme for reunification common to the nation which the north and the south confirmed at the July 4 Joint Statement and solemnly declared at home and abroad, referring to the tremendous historic significance of the principles in the nation's struggle for reunification.
The President set forth the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point program for the great unity of the entire nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo, thus providing reasonable and fair guidelines for achieving the country's reunification at the earliest possible date. The exploits the President performed by devoting all his energies and wisdom to the work to bequeath a reunified country to the nation till the last moments of his life will shine for all ages, the reporter added.
Kim Jong Il formulated the above-said principles, the programme and the proposal for reunification set forth by the President as three charters for national reunification and authored famous works, thus indicating the way of achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
The reporter underscored the need for all the Koreans in the north and the south of Korea and abroad to hold fast to the three charters for national reunification and the June 15 joint declaration, its embodiment, and realize the cause of the country's reunification, stressing that the fundamental principles for national reunification and stand on it will remain unchanged no matter how the situation may change.
The meeting was attended Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier of the Cabinet who is honorary co-chairman of the north side committee for implementing the June 15 joint declaration, Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party, Kang Ryon Hak, chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland, leading officials of political parties, power organs and public organizations, members of the north side committee for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and working people in the city.
