May Day Marked in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- The working people of the country significantly marked May Day, an international holiday, on May 1.
Sports and amusement games took place at the Yanggakdo Football Stadium with the attendance of tens of thousands of people from more than 40 units under the Pyongyang City Construction Guidance Bureau.
The participants showed well the might of unity of constructors in such events as mass rhythmic gymnastics, Taekwon-Do for health, football, basketball, volleyball, 400-metre relay, tug-of-war and Korean wrestling.
Working people in the city of Hamhung held colorful functions in different parts of the city including the Hamhung Stadium and the Hungnam District Stadium.
Through sports and amusement games, the working people of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the Hamhung Basic Foodstuff Factory, the Hamhung Knitting Factory, the Hamhung Cement Factory and other industrial establishments successfully represented the true picture of the DPRK society in which all the people help and lead each other forward. Those of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex staged a performance of 5,000-people chorus.
Workers at different units in North Hamgyong Province, including the Songjin Steel Complex, the Musan Mining Complex and the Ranam Coal Mining Machine Complex conducted various sports and amusement games including ball games, running with ankles tied and running with a toy balloon on the head. On the same day, similar sports games and performances of art groups were held at industrial establishments and co-op farms in North Hwanghae, South Phyongan, North Phyongan, Jagang and Ryanggang provinces to show the might of the collectives and their optimistic life.
