Internal Affairs
- The Rodong Shinmun emphasized that the merited choir of the Korean People’s Army gives the military and the people courage and energy and should support the military first policy continuously, reported the Central Broadcasting Station on April 30.
- The Central Broadcasting Station reported on May 3 that the opening ceremony of the 22 nd Central Science and Technology Festival was held in three revolution exhibition on May 3.
- The Central Broadcasting Station reported on May 4 that Rodong Shinmun and Korean People’s Army stressed the unity of the military and the people in the joint editorial ‘Let’s win a victory through unity of the military and the people.’
- Chairman Kim Jeongil inspected the unit under the jurisdiction of the unit967 and the unit977, reported the Central Broadcasting Station on May 5 and 6.
Inter-Korean Affairs
- The Central Broadcasting Station reported on May 3 that the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation of the North condemned the Grand National Party and asserted the abolition of the National Security Law.
- Pyongyang Broadcasting Services released a comment on May 4, criticizing Dong-a Ilbo that condemned the military parade for commemorating the 75 th anniversary of foundation of the People’s Army.
- The Central Broadcasting Station reported on May 5 that the DPRK’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland condemned the U.S. general Burwell Bell for his comment on the financial contribution to the stationing costs of the U.S. military on the Korean peninsula.
Foreign Affairs
- Barry Lowenkron, assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights and labor strongly criticized the actual status of the North Korean human rights at a hearing on May 2.
- The Rodong Shinmun criticized the U.S. power politics and said it had failed in North Korea .
- The Rodong Shinmun and Pyongyang Broadcasting Services criticized on May 4 and 6 that the U.S. reinforcement of armament, modernization of nuclear weapons, and development of missile defense system put brakes on the denuclearization on the Korean peninsula, cast the military balance in the Asian Pacific area, and sharpen the armament competition.
- The trade volume between North Korea and China in March 2007 decreased by 15 percent from the same period a year earlier.
- Export from North Korea to China : increased by 38.2 percent
- Import from China to North Korea : decreased by 35.6 percent
- Recently, Japanese public safety authority is intensifying suppression on Chongryun, making a compulsory search for groups affiliated to Chongryun.
