Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 1637.
At the military lecture room he acquainted himself with the training of the unit before watching the drill of its servicepersons.
He was pleased to learn that all the servicepersons have grown up to be stalwart combatants fully prepared politically and ideologically and in military technique to beat back any surprise invasion of the enemies at a single blow and firmly protect the socialist country. He put forward tasks to be undertaken by the unit to boost its combat capability.
The servicepersons of the KPA, a heir to the brilliant traditions of the anti-Japanese war, have grown to be invincible revolutionary ranks who devotedly defend the party and the leader and do not hesitate to dedicate even their lives to the fight for the cause of the Party and the cause of socialism, he said, adding:
It is a great pride of the Party and people to have such a matchless huge army.
He took warm care of the living of the servicepersons, going round an education room, bedroom, mess hall, kitchen, wash-cum-bath room, non-staple food store and other places.
He gave them a pair of binoculars, a machine gun and an automatic rifle as gifts before having a photo session with them.
He was accompanied by KPA General Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, KPA Generals Kim Yun Sim, Ri Myong Su and Hyon Chol Hae, and First Vice Department Directors of the WPK Central Committee Ri Yong Chol and Ri Jae Il.
