Internal Affairs

  • Chairman Kim Jeong-il inspected the command of Guard Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 Tank Division of the KPA and the command of the 350unit, reported the Central Broadcasting Station on March 17 and on March 20.
  • Chairman Kim Jeong-il watched Jang Yongsik concert with major executives of the party and artists on March 21, reported the Central Broadcasting Station on March 22.
  • According to the report by the Central Broadcasting Station on March 22, North Korea announced that the fifth meeting would be held in Pyongyang on March 11 according to the decision by the permanent council of the Supreme People’s Assembly.
  • The Central Broadcasting Station reported on March 20 that North Korean delegation for the 4 th North Korea-Russia Joint Economic Committee would leave Pyongyang on March 20.
  • The Central Broadcasting Station reported on March 21 that several regions including Hwangju-gun, Hwanghae-bukdo are preparing for bean farming.
  • Pak Yong Sok, Chairman of the Control Commission of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea died of prostate cancer on March 17, 2007 at the age of 80, reported the Central Broadcasting Station on March 18.

Inter-Korean Affairs

  • The Central Broadcasting Station reported on March 19 that the spokesperson of the Central Committee of the Korean Journalist Union announced a statement, denouncing the South Korean report on the South Korean government’s financial aid toward the North.

Foreign Affairs

  • The sixth round of the six-party talks was held in Beijing from March 19 to 21 but it was postponed without any result as North Korea rejected to attend the talks on the pretext of delayed transfer of North Korean frozen money in BDA.
  • Chosun Sinbo reported on the sixth round of the six party talks from March 17 to 23. Although other North Korean press has never covered the six party talks, Chosun Sinbo reported the talks every day, reflecting the North’s stance on the talks.
  • Korean Central News Agency has been condemning Japan continuously for several issues such as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s remarks on sex slaves and W/G meeting for normalization of North Korea – Japan relations.
