Songun Politics, Treasured Sword for Defense of Nation: Rodong Sinmun
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- Songun politics is a powerful treasured sword for defense of the nation which safeguards the dignity and sovereignty of the nation and protects the destiny of the whole nation, repulsing aggressive challenges of outside forces with the arms of justice, declares Rodong Sinmun Monday. Noting that the Songun politics of the DPRK is based on the historical lesson that the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the nation can be defended only with powerful military capacity, the author of the article goes on:
Songun politics is one which firmly defends the dignity and sovereignty of the nation from the aggressive threats of foreign forces by building up the strongest military capacity, giving the top priority to the military affairs in the state affairs.
If one is weak in strength today when the imperialist forces freely invade sovereign states and force bloodshed and death upon their people, one can find no hearer, however loudly he may cry for justice, but only suffer humiliation, maltreatment and insult. One can defend oneself, have proper say and be respected only when one is strong.
Now the gun sights of the U.S. imperialists for aggression are leveled at the Korean Peninsula. The U.S., however, dare not ignite a war, only snarling with its sword unsheathed. This is because it cannot see any military possibility of realizing its ambition of dominating Korea in view of the balance of forces on the peninsula.
The mysterious weapon of defense of peace which quelled the war hysterics of the U.S. imperialists, the warmongers, is the very Songun politics of the DPRK.
The U.S. imperialists dare not cross the doorstep of a Korean war, though they are thirsty for a war. The mighty war deterrent of the DPRK provided by Songun plays a decisive role in resolutely smashing the U.S. imperialists' moves to provoke a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula and defending peace of the country and the security of the nation.
