Dynamic Land Administration Campaign

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- A brisk campaign for land administration has been conducted in the DPRK from the beginning of the year. Kim Kyong Jun, vice-minister of the Ministry of Land and Environment Preservation, told KCNA that the ministry has set up a go-ahead plan to bring about a new phase in the work for land management in response to the joint New Year editorial's call for turning the country into a socialist fairyland.
This year greeting the 60th anniversary of the transplantation of a tree on Munsu Hill by the three generals of Mt. Paektu and the 50th anniversary of the transplantation of a tree on Mt. Jang by Kim Jong Il, he continued, we will plant good species of trees on the mountains across the country more than the previous year.
Saplings are being manured and tended well at the big nurseries in different parts of the country and at nurseries in forest.
Tree saplings will be planted in accordance with the topographical and plot characteristics and biological features of saplings on the principle of right saplings on right soil.
We are making full preparations for carrying out the current plan according to the long-term plan through mass tree-planting campaign during the spring and autumn general mobilization periods for land management.
All the cities and counties are undertaking dredging and cleaning projects of rivers including the Taedong River such as embankment, dredging and straightening of waterways in a planned way. And they have taken steps to improve roads in their regions in a technical and cultural way and are carrying them into practice.
The looks of the land will be changed beyond recognition this year through dynamic efforts to thoroughly implement of the militant tasks put forth in the joint editorial.
