Inside North Korea
The Central TV urged (Oct. 23), “In order to prevent a reduction in rice crops, the autumn harvest must be completed on time. We can crush the vicious maneuvers of the US imperialists to isolate and stifle the DPRK and forcefully push ahead with building a powerful, prosperous and great nation only when we have plenty of food, so we must mobilize and concentrate our entire capacity on reaping every rice grain without any loss.”
The Central Broadcasting Station and other media reported (Oct. 25-29), “Rallies of servicepersons and citizens hailing the success of the historic nuclear test were held in the provinces of South Pyeongan, Jagang and Gangwon, in the cities of Nampo, Manpo, Gaeseong, Jeongju and Gimchaek, and in the counties of Pyeongwon, Gangnyeong, Dongnim, Pyeongsan and Gosan.”
Outside North Korea
Quoting a Rodong Shinmun commentary, the North Korean Central News Agency condemned (Oct. 25), “Under circumstances wherein there is an increasing nuclear threat and risk of a nuclear war due to the United States’ enforcement of a criminal nuclear policy, it is necessary to implement nuclear disarmament in order to guarantee world peace and security. The US, while remaining tight-lipped about nuclear disarmament, is making a fuss preventing nuclear propagation and is using petty tactics to impede the implementation of the nuclear disarmament pledge.
Quoting a Rodong Shinmun commentary, the North Korean Central News Agency contended (Oct. 25), “Japan’s prattle about peace and human rights in the international arena is brazen and out of line. As a priority, Japan must fully make amends for its past crimes.”
Inter-Korean Issues
Quoting an interview with a spokesperson for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, the North Korean Central News Agency contended (Oct. 25), “If the South Korean authorities join the US-led moves to sanction and stifle the DPRK and in the event inter-Korean relations end up in ruins as a result of indiscriminate sanctions by South Korea, South Korea will end up paying dearly.”
The North Korean Central News Agency reported on an interview with a spokesperson for the Korean Center for Reconciliation and Cooperation (Oct. 28) contending, “The people of South Korea must firmly oppose and denounce US intervention and should not, on any occasion, tolerate any act of treason and servility to the US moves to impose sanctions on the DPRK.”
