Inside North Korea
The North Korean Central News Agency reported (Oct. 5-6), “Kim Jeong-il, accompanied by Jo Myeong-rok, Director General of the KPA Politburo, met with and congratulated the participants in the meeting of commanders and political instructors of KPA battalions. Kim expressed his expectation and belief that the KPA would fulfill its mission and duty as pillar of revolution.” It further reported, “On the occasion of Chuseok, the Korean Thanksgiving on Oct. 6, Kim Jeong-il sent a floral wreath to the burial place of Kim Bo-hyeon, Lee Bo-ik, Kim Hyeong-jik and Kang Ban-seok at Mangyeongdae.”
The North Korean Central News Agency reported (Oct. 4), “The farming villages in Pyongyang, Hwanghae Province, Gangwon Province and other areas are at the peak of autumn harvest. Rice harvesting continues to increase through work process rationalization.”
Outside North Korea
The Pyongyang Broadcasting Service protested (Oct. 2), “The United States has become frantic in its clamor about the nuclear threat while claiming peaceful nuclear activities of other nations to be nuclear weapons development. This tactic is aimed at concealing its criminal colors and justifying its maneuvers for world dominance through its nuclear arsenal.”
The North Korean Central News Agency reported (Oct. 3), “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement declaring, ‘1) In the field of scientific research, the DPRK will, in the future, conduct nuclear tests under conditions wherein safety is guaranteed; 2) The DPRK will prohibit threatening with nuclear weapons and nuclear transfer; and 3) The DPRK will do its utmost to realize denuclearization and abolish nuclear weapons.’”
Inter-Korean Issues
Quoting an interview with a spokesperson for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, the North Korean Central News Agency propagandized (Oct. 7), “The reorganization of US forces occupying South Korea implies an arms buildup and a prelude for a war of aggression against the DPRK. The people of South Korea must launch a struggle against the U. S. and against the war in order to drive out the US forces stationed in South Korea.”
