Inside North Korea
The Chosun Central News Agency reported (June 12-17), “Kim Jeong-il, accompanied by KPA Generals Lee Myeong-su, Hyeon Hae-cheol and Pak Jae-gyeong, inspected the command of KPA Large Combined Unit 966, KPA units 147 and 657, and called for strengthened combat readiness.”
The Chosun Central News Agency reported (June 18), “A national meeting celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the start of Kim Jeong-il’s work at the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea took place at the April 25 House of Culture on April 18, and was attended by officials of the WPK and individuals from the fields of politics and military, including Kim Yeong-nam.”
Outside North Korea
Quoting a commentary from Rodong Shinmun, the Chosun Central News Agency emphasized (June 14), “The sovereignty of many countries are being violated and threatened by the power of authority and unilateral principles of the US imperialists. The nations that are not participating in the bloc should forcefully launch a joint struggle to oppose imperialism and dominance under the banner of anti-imperialist independence and contribute to the building of a world without aggression or pillaging—a new world that is peaceful and prosperous.”
Inter-Korean Issues
The Chosun Central News Agency reported (June 15), “The grand festival for national reunification and for the implementation of the June 15 Joint Declaration was held at the Gwangju Cultural and Art Center on June 15, and the people of North and South Korea as well as overseas Koreans discussed various means for bringing the reunification of the fatherland one step closer through the three-point patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace and grand national unity.”
