Inside North Korea

The Chosun Central News Agency reported (June 5-7), “Kim Jeong-il inspected KPA Unit 2725 and KPA Air Force Unit 970, and called for strengthened combat readiness. He also provided on-site guidance at the Machine Plant managed by Jeong Il-man.”


The Central Broadcasting Station reported (June 11), “The rice transplanting is vigorously being carried out in the final stages, thanks to the powerful struggle of the agricultural workers and supporters from across the nation. Rice planting nationwide has exceeded 90% of all rice paddies as of June 9.”

Outside North Korea

The Chosun Central News Agency blasted (June 6), “The US imperialists are trying to expand and strengthen the aggressive military blockade through the establishment of a missile defense system intended for a nuclear war, citing threats from us [the DPRK] and Iran.” It contended, “The basic target of nuclear preemptive strikes by the US imperialists is us [the DPRK].”

Inter-Korean Issues

The Chosun Central News Agency reported (June 10), “A national meeting in Pyongyang City commemorating the 80th anniversary of the June 10 Manse Demonstration and Struggle against Japan (June 10, 1926) took place at the Central Workers’ Hall on June 10, and was attended by WPK Secretary Kim Joong-rin.” It propagandized, “We will launch a struggle against the US, Japan and the Hannara Party (Grand National Party).”


The Chosun Central News Agency reported (June 6), “The 12th meeting of the North-South Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation took place on Jeju Island from June 3 to June 6. The two sides discussed the issue of advancing north-south economic cooperation for the common interests of the nation in keeping with the basic spirit of the June 15 Joint Declaration, and adopted an agreement.”
