Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, December 4 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to a newly built village of the Migok Cooperative Farm in Sariwon City. He looked round the monument to the on-the-spot guidance given by President Kim Il Sung and the revolutionary museum.
He visited the families of discharged officer Kim Kyo Son and farmers including Choe Je Gun and O Yun Sang and expressed great satisfaction with the successful construction of modern dwelling houses of various styles convenient to farmers' living.
After acquainting himself with the farm work done on the farm, he underscored the need for the farm to bring about a fresh boost in the agricultural production on the basis of the successes made in it in the past and spruce up the village to meet the need of socialism. He specified tasks and ways to do so.
A solid foundation has been laid to significantly boost the agricultural production through a dynamic drive for rural construction waged in different parts of the country in recent years, he noted, adding that this signal success constitutes a precious asset for finding a final solution to the peasants' question, the rural question in the country.
Noting that the dynamic progress of the ideological, technical and cultural revolutions in the countryside and the increased assistance to it and the strengthened state guidance to the co-op farms helped rapidly realize the working-classization of the peasantry and the industrialization of agriculture and radically change the appearance of the rural areas, thereby considerably narrowing down the difference between the urban and rural areas, he stressed this strikingly demonstrates the validity and great vitality of the Theses on the Socialist Rural Question authored by the President and the advantageous socialist rural economy system in the country.
In order to successfully solve the rural question it is necessary to strengthen the guidance to agriculture and increase assistance to it and enable all the farmers, in particular, to live in cozy and fashionable houses and build a sufficient number of cultural and welfare facilities of diverse styles to promote every convenience in their living, he noted.
He underscored the need for the whole country and all people to continue concentrating all efforts on farming with a view to bringing about a signal surge in the agricultural production as the agricultural front is the most important and principal one for solving the people's problems of clothing, food and housing.
