Rodong Sinmun Calls for Higher Display of Korean Nation-first Spirit

   Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The viewpoint of attaching importance to the nation and the nation-first spirit is a genuine patriotic viewpoint promoting the nation's independent shaping of its destiny, says Rodong Sinmun in an article Friday. Noting that to adhere to the viewpoint and stand of attaching importance to the nation and the nation-first spirit is a very important way of speeding up the patriotic movement for independent reunification, the author of the article goes on:
    If the members of the nation fail to maintain the viewpoint and morale of attaching importance to the nation and the nation-first spirit, they cannot withstand the challenges of outside aggression forces nor can they shape the destiny of the nation independently. In the present times it stands out with greater urgency to struggle with this steadfast ideological standpoint and morale.
    The Korean nation is now living in the June 15 era of reunification. The progress of the era would have been unthinkable without these viewpoint and morale.
    The present times have witnessed evermore desperate moves of the outside forces in their interference in the internal affairs of the Korean nation intended to block its cause of independent reunification and undermine the inter-Korean relations and their moves to provoke a war against the DPRK. No force on earth will or can save the Korean nation from the danger of war. Destructive would be the consequences to be entailed by the stance of attaching importance to outside forces and dependence on them under this situation.
    Only when the Koreans cherish the viewpoint of attaching importance to the nation and the nation-first spirit and decisively oppose flunkeyism and dependence on outside forces, establishing the spirit of fighting with the joint efforts of the Korean nation itself, can they triumphantly push forward the cause of independent reunification, frustrating the interference of outside forces and their moves for aggression.
    Deeply cherishing the spirit of attaching importance to the nation and the nation-first spirit, the Korean nation will vigorously hew the path of the cause of independent reunification under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself".
