Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Ryongsong Machine Complex and the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex. He was greeted by Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Phung Gi, chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial People's Committee, and other leading officials of the province and the complexes.
The first leg of his guidance was the Ryongsong Machine Complex.
He dropped in at the newly built compressor shop where he learned in detail about the construction and production and examined various types of new compressors.
He highly appreciated the feats performed by the workers in Ryongsong intensely loyal to the Party and the revolution, saying that it is signal success that they built the compressor shop tantamount to a big plant in a matter of less than one year and manufactured various types of high-performance compressors by their own efforts and with their own technology.
These signal achievements are a manifestation of the inexhaustible strength of the heroic working class of the DPRK who have taken the lead in pushing ahead with the cause of socialism in the spirit of "the Arduous March," strictly abiding by the socialist principle, the revolutionary principle despite whatever storm and stress, he noted.
He said that the nation's industry has a bright prospect as it has Juche-oriented machine-building industry which can produce anything if it has a will.
The next leg of his guidance was the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex.
He looked round a monument to the on-site instructions given by President Kim Il Sung.
The complex has been converted into a reliable large-scale fertilizer production center of the country thanks to the wise guidance and meticulous care of the President, he said, underscoring the need to implement the last instructions of the President to the letter. Going round the newly built fertilizer production processes, Kim Jong Il learned about the construction and technical equipment of the complex and extended thanks to the scientists, technicians, officials and workers of the complex.
The fertilizer production processes which the workers of the complex built by their own efforts, courageously pulling through bottlenecks and difficulties are a precious fruition of self-reliance, he said, adding that the spirit of self-reliance represents the most correct and effective way of giving fullest play to the strength and wisdom of the people and successfully bringing earlier prosperity under socialism.
Experience gained by the officials and workers of the complex goes to prove that there is nothing impossible when people conduct a dynamic and bold movement to draw on advanced science and technology with faith and pluck that they can study any ultra-modern science and technology and introduce them to their practice.
Underlining the need to develop agriculture for the purpose of solving the food problem and increase the supply of fertilizers to the farms for better farming, he called for concentrating all efforts on the production of fertilizers, bearing deep in mind the President's proposition that "Fertilizer precisely means rice and rice socialism".
He was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Nam Gi, department director of the WPK Central Committee, and Jang Song Thaek and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the same.
