   Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) --The Songun policy of the Workers' Party of Korea is a just and noble patriotic policy for guaranteeing and protecting the common interests of the nation in conformity with the independent desire and wishes of all the fellow countrymen, says Rodong Sinmun in a by-lined article Monday. It goes on:
    The Songun policy helps reliably protect the dignity and interests of the Koreans who have worked hard to achieve national reconciliation and unity and reunification under the banner of "By our nation itself" by shattering all sorts of obstructions of the reactionaries of history.
    The Songun policy of the WPK is a patriotic one for meeting the common demand and interests of the nation.
    This policy guarantees the exercise of the sovereign right of the Korean nation in the efforts to achieve national reunification.
    The policy also helps create conditions and circumstances for rejecting outsiders' interference in the cause of national reunification with the strength of the invincible army and enabling the Koreans to settle the issue of reunification according to their will and wishes.
    The Korean nation remains stronger in its independent spirit of holding aloft the banner of anti-U.S. struggle without the slightest vacillation even in face of alarming threat and blackmail of the U.S. imperialists and in its patriotic zeal and will to consolidate the foundation of national unity and reunification despite the moves of the separatists at home and abroad to perpetuate the division. All this is possible only thanks to the Songun policy which provides a sure guarantee for the cause of reunification.
    The Songun policy of the Party is one for unity as it helps strengthen the driving force for national reunification.
    It is one for national unity and reunification and patriotism as it calls for putting forward all the Koreans as an engine for achieving national reunification and increasing their role under the banner of "By our nation itself".
    Even the vicious hostile policy of the U.S. imperialists towards the DPRK will prove futile when the Koreans go united, well aware of their position as the driving force for national reunification.
    All the Koreans are heading for independent reunification under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself" as the Songun policy protects the nation from the U.S. aggressors.
    The movement for reunification has developed into the patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and overall national unity. This reality goes to clearly prove that the Songun policy is an effective policy for unity.
