Homage Paid to Kim Il Sung

   Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Senior officials of the Party, the army and the state and people from all walks of life visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace on Oct. 17 to pay homage to President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU). Senior officials of the Workers' Party of Korea, the army and the state, the chairpersons of the friendly parties, members of the DPRK Cabinet, senior officials of the Party, armed forces and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions entered the hall where the statue of the President stands.
    Seen on both sides of the statue were the flags of the WPK and the DPRK and the colors of the Korean People's Army. Guards of honor of the three services of the KPA were seen standing there.

    Laid before the statue amid the solemn playing of "Song of General Kim Il Sung" was a floral basket in the joint name of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK, the DPRK National Defence Commission, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the DPRK Cabinet.
    Written on the ribbon of the floral basket were letters "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Is Immortal".
    The participants paid high tribute to him.
    Then they entered the hall where the President lies in state for perpetuity and paid homage to him in humblest reverence.
    They walked round the orders, medals and certificates of honorary titles he received from the DPRK and foreign countries, the portrait of the smiling President and bronze relievos in the Mourning Hall, a train coach he used during his on-the-spot guidance and visits to foreign countries and a car he used in the last period of his life.
    On the same day, the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, servicepersons of the KPA, officials of organs at all levels and people of all social standings visited the palace.
