DIU and WPK Anniversaries Celebrated

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- An oratorical contest of agricultural workers across the country was held on Friday on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) and the 61st anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea. Presented to the contest were those oratories appraised in the oratorical competition of agricultural workers throughout the country.
Orators said that the idea of anti-imperialism, independence and sovereignty and socialism President Kim Il Sung set forth when forming the DIU has been applied to the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il, so that the Korean army and people are defending the independent dignity and honor of the nation, displaying the might of their invincibility in the confrontation with the U.S. imperialists.
They expressed their determination to fulfill the duty of the agricultural workers in the Songun era responsible for the nation's granaries by bringing about a new turn in agricultural production this year, true to the revolutionary cause of Songun of the Party which has inherited the idea and fighting spirit of the DIU.
And then a celebration performance was given by the art squad of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea.
The performance began with chorus "Glory to the General". Put on the stage were colorful numbers including song to the accompaniment of Oungum "Star of Korea", poem and song "Hold Up the Flag of the DIU", male chorus "Long Live the Workers' Party of Korea", female solo "Tell, the Path of Songun", mixed duet "Blue Sky over My Country" and story-telling and chorus "Song of Comradeship".
The performers lauded the immortal revolutionary exploits the peerlessly great men performed in the development of the Party and the victorious advance of the revolutionary cause of Juche.
