80th Anniversary of DIU Celebrated

   Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- A celebration meeting of members of the Korean Democratic Women's Union was held at the plaza of the Tower of the Juche Idea on Oct. 14 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union. At the meeting Pak Sun Hui, chairwoman of the C.C., the KDWU, made a report and then followed speeches.
    The reporter and speakers said that the Korean revolution could victoriously advance with its correct guiding idea and strategy of struggle as President Kim Il Sung formed the DIU, the first revolutionary vanguard organization in Korea, and set forth the programme of struggle for independence and sovereignty against imperialism, and the glorious Workers' Party of Korea has since begun to take its roots.
    They referred to the fact that the President accomplished the cause of founding the party of Juche type on the basis of the tradition of the DIU and built the party into an invincible revolutionary party, a genuine motherly party serving the people and wisely led it, thus setting a world-wide example in the building of the revolutionary party in the era of independence and laying foundations for the ever-victorious Korean revolution.
    Kim Jong Il has led the party and the revolution for over four decades to develop the WPK into the glorious party of the President which has inherited the tradition of the DIU, powerful guiding force of Songun revolution, thus achieving the single-minded unity of the leader, the party and the masses on the highest level and remarkably increasing the political and ideological might of the Korean revolution.
    They called on all the officials and members of the KDWU to fulfill the duty of the women in the Songun era in applying the Juche character and the national character to all the fields of social life with patriotism under the uplifted banner of the red flag of the DIU and bringing earlier the rosy future of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.
