Rodong Sinmun on Kim Il Sung's Feats in History of Fine Arts

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates an article to the 40th publication anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's celebrated work "Let Us Develop Revolutionary Fine Arts: National in Form and Socialist in Content". The work is the historic talk the President had with workers in the fine arts on the occasion of the 9th National Art Exhibition on October 16, Juche 55 (1966). It was an epochal event of weighty significance in developing the fine arts in the DPRK, the article says, and goes on:
In the work the President highly praised the artists for producing many fine art works which vividly represent the historic struggle of the Korean people and graphically show the true nature of the exploiter society. And he gave a comprehensive and profound exposition of the theoretical and practical problems arising in further developing the nation's fine arts. The ideas and theories contained in the work, which is consistent with faith in socialism, high sense of responsibility for the revolution and ardent patriotism, serve as an eternal and militant banner that all workers in the fine arts should hold fast to in creating socialist fine arts of Juche forever.
An important one of the feats the President performed in creating the socialist fine arts of Juche is that he advanced the unique idea and theory on developing the popular and revolutionary fine arts, national in form and socialist in content. He also saw to it that the idea and theory was maintained as lifeline in the accomplishment of the cause of creating socialist fine arts.
His cause of creating socialist fine arts of Juche has successfully been carried forward under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il. He ushered in a era of epochal development of the socialist fine arts of Juche and has guided the national fine arts to fully demonstrate their might.
Today the fine arts in the DPRK faithfully serve for the accomplishment of the cause of independence as genuine revolutionary and popular fine arts by vividly depicting the true picture of the Korean society where the leader, the party, the army and the people are united in mind to form into one socio-political integrity and the life and struggle of the Korean army and people.
