  Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang-based papers Saturday dedicate editorials to the 58th birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. President Kim Il Sung led the anti-Japanese revolutionary war to brilliant victory, achieved the national cause of the country's liberation and founded the DPRK on the basis of the firm historical root, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on:
    The foundation of the DPRK put an end to the distress-torn history of the Korean nation and helped the Korean people successfully realize their century-old desire to lead a dignified life as the masters of their destiny, genuine masters of the state and society. The President devoted all his life to glorifying the DPRK as the genuine country of the people, a powerful socialist nation, regarding "believing in the people as in Heaven" as his maxim.
    The Korean people will never forget the undying feats the President performed in building the state and his august name will shine for all ages as the banner of the dignity and prosperity of the DPRK.
    The DPRK has entered a new historic period in which it makes a leap forward towards a great prosperous powerful nation as it has great brilliant commander of Songun Kim Jong Il at its head.
    It is the unshakable faith of Kim Jong Il to eternally glorify the DPRK as a powerful socialist nation admired by the whole world true to the President's cause of building a prosperous powerful country. The President's idea and feats of building a socialist state have been firmly defended, a heyday of the country's prosperity greeted and the might of Songun Korea intensified by Kim Jong Il.
    The great victory in the struggle for defending socialism in the 20th century and the miraculous successes gained in building a great prosperous powerful nation in the new century are the lofty fruition of the energetic Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    The dignity and might of the DPRK led by him have reached the highest level.
    Thanks to the powerful war deterrent built on the road for Songun the DPRK has always won only victories in the political and military confrontation with the U.S. imperialists and the struggle for national prosperity and advanced the socialist cause in its own way with its own view.
