Implementation of Inter-Korean Joint Declaration Called for

   Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- No force on earth can ever check the Korean nation's movement for national reunification advancing along the path of reunification and patriotism and the path of national independence indicated in the June 15 joint declaration, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed article. It goes on:
    The joint declaration serves as a banner of victory encouraging the Korean nation aspiring after reconciliation, unity and reunification in its sacred cause of independent reunification.
    National independence is a basic principle of national reunification.
    The joint declaration developed national independence, undisputed truth instrumental in achieving national reunification and carving out the nation's destiny, into a patriotic idea warmly supported and actively implemented by Koreans from all walks of life at home and abroad irrespective of ideology. By underscoring the need to solve the reunification issue by the concerted efforts of the Koreans responsible for it, the declaration defined national independence as invariable guidelines to be maintained in the reunification movement common to the nation. National independence is the basic idea and spirit of the north-south joint declaration and its core.
    It also serves as a powerful engine for realizing national cooperation.
    National cooperation is the principal mode for the Korean nation in its struggle for independent reunification. The joint declaration translated national cooperation into reality. The idea of "By our nation itself" clarified in the joint declaration is, in essence, the idea of national cooperation. This idea calls for settling the nation's internal affair, the reunification issue by the concerted efforts of the Koreans through their discussion and cooperation under any circumstances, not through subservience or collusion with the outsider.
    The Korean nation has steadily stepped up the march for national reunification with a clear-cut goal full of confidence as the June 15 joint declaration has served as a landmark for independent national reunification.
