Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected Air Force Unit 970 of the KPA. He acquainted himself with the unit's performance of duty before going round the historic plane President Kim Il Sung saw on July 8, 1955 and records of victories won by the unit.
He recollected with deep emotion the leadership feats of the President recorded in the unit's history of development.
He highly appreciated the exploits performed by the unit, recalling that born under the care of the President and grown to be matchless combat ranks under his energetic guidance and meticulous care, the unit has traversed the road of proud victory for a long period since the Fatherland Liberation War.
He familiarized himself with the training of the airmen. He set forth tasks to be tackled to increase the combat capability of the unit, satisfied to learn that the airmen are well versed in the Juche-based methods of air battles by steadily raising the level of combat and technical skills at the drill halls well furnished with training apparatuses.
He went round a servicepersons' hall, an education room and other entertainment and cultural facilities to learn about their operation.
The KPA units have conducted effective education by various forms and methods by paying primary attention to the political and ideological education of soldiers and fully applying the way the anti-Japanese guerrillas did, he said, adding that they thus prepared all the soldiers to be men strong in idea and faith and possessed of an indomitable revolutionary spirit. This precious achievement, which cannot be bartered for anything, is a clear proof of the validity and great vitality of the WPK's policy of giving top priority to the ideological education, he emphasized.
Then he looked round a bedroom, a mess hall, a kitchen, a wash-cum-bath house, a daily provision store, a combined processing room and other supply service facilities and highly praised the soldiers of the unit for having made great successes in its management.
He had a photo session with the servicepersons of the unit.
