Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held on Saturday to mark the 60th anniversary (June 4) of Minju Joson, the organ of the DPRK government. President Kim Il Sung founded the newspaper Pyongyang Minbo right after Korea's liberation and developed it into the organ of the government, naming it Minju Joson.
Leader Kim Jong Il has led Minju Joson to preserve its revolutionary nature and play a significant role in implementing the policies of the party and the state.
At the meeting, Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, read out a congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the journalists, editors and employees of the Minju Joson.
The WPK Central Committee in the message highly praised the journalists, editors and employees for having made positive contributions to consolidating and developing the state and social system of the DPRK and accelerating socialist construction through brisk media activities with their intense loyalty to the party and the leader and patriotic dedication.
Kim Jong Suk, editor-in-chief of Minju Joson, made a report, which was followed by speeches.
The reporter and speakers said that the foundation of Minju Joson was the birth of the Juche-oriented revolutionary government organ, the first of its kind in the Korean nation's history of 5,000 years, and an event of weighty significance in the strengthening and development of the people's power and political and ideological life of the Korean people.
The six decades of Minju Joson are glorious annals in which a new history of the organ of the DPRK government has been made under the wise leadership of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
They called on all the officials, journalists, editors and employees to hold the President in high esteem forever and defend Kim Jong Il politically and ideologically and at the risk of their lives and profoundly explain the WPK's idea on Juche-oriented power building and the state polices and intensify the media activities to implement them.
