Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 294. He acquainted himself with the unit's performance of duty before looking round the room devoted to the unit's history.
He highly appreciated the exploits performed by the unit in the past, noting that it has traversed a path of victory and glory, glorifying the great tradition and history of the single-minded unity in the strong spirit of devotedly defending the leader.
He learned about how the unit organizes the training and implements its program, going round the operation command room and military lecture rooms.
He set forth tasks to be tackled to further increase the unit's combat capability, expressing satisfaction over the fact that it has fully prepared its servicepersons as a-match-for-a hundred fighters by organizing all work with main emphasis on the training and has registered successes by steadily pushing forward the work to improve the commanding officers' and staffs' organization of operations and battles and boost their ability.
Making the rounds of a servicepersons' hall, a library and various other places, he praised the unit for having brought about a new turn in their education by securing all means necessary for their ideological and cultural education and making a regular use of them.
Watching cosy barracks standing in a dense forest and its compound kept neat and tidy, he expressed great satisfaction with the fact that it has set a fine example in commanding and managing the unit by enlisting the creative enthusiasm of the soldiers.
The KPA servicepersons are living well off after building well their posts wherever they are stationed, be it a deep mountain or a solitary island, he said, adding that this signal turn in the era of Songun clearly proves the ideological and moral power of the KPA.
He had a photograph taken with the servicepersons of the unit.
