Chinese Delegation Feted

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of the People's Armed Forces gave a reception Monday in honour of the Chinese delegation of martyr Mao Anying's family and relatives, which has come to Korea to visit the grave of Mao Anying who is son of Chairman Mao Zedong, the great leader of the Chinese people, and fell in the Korean war. Present there on invitation were the delegation led by former Deputy Department Director of the Chinese Academy of Military Science Shao Hua, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe and Military Attache Yang Xilian and staff members of the Chinese embassy.
On hand were Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, general officers and officers of the KPA and officials concerned.
KPA General Pak Jae Gyong, addressing the reception, said that martyr Mao Anying, an internationalist solider who laid down his precious youth for the defense of the Korea-China friendship, was not only the true son of the Chinese people but also the beloved son of the Korean people.
The undying feats performed by the martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteers in the war against the armed invasion of the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces have been cherished long in the mind of the army and people of the DPRK along with the history of Korea-China friendship, he stressed.
He noted that the current visit of the delegation will mark an important occasion in educating the rising generation to invariably carry forward Korea-China friendship personally provided by President Kim Il Sung together with Chairman Mao Zedong and other revolutionaries of the old generation of China. He said that leader Kim Jong Il is defending and developing the friendship provided by the revolutionaries of the old generation.
He expressed the belief that the Korea-China friendly and cooperative relations favorably developing day by day under the particular care of the top leaders of the two countries will in the future, too, grow stronger thanks to the joint efforts of the armies and peoples of the two countries.
The head of the delegation in a speech said that their visit to the grave was satisfactory and favorable under the deep concern of Kim Jong Il. She noted she was glad of it.
She said that during their stay in Korea they visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace to pay high tribute to Kim Il Sung who lies in state, and the old home in Mangyongdae where he was born and inspected various places.
Though our visit was short, we could not only remember the martyrs but also deeply feel the true and warm friendship of Korean comrades, she said.
She stressed that they would make all efforts to defend Sino-Korean friendship and peace and ensure joint development of the two countries.
A performance was given by artistes of the KPA Song and Dance Ensemble at the reception.
