Visiting Chinese Delegation Feted

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- The DPRK government hosted a banquet at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Saturday in honor of a Chinese delegation of martyr Mao Anying's family and his relatives on a visit to the DPRK. Present there on invitation were the delegation led by former Deputy Department Director of the Chinese Academy of Military Science Shao Hua and Ambassador Wu Donghe, Military Attache Yang Xilian and staff members of the Chinese embassy here.
Also present were Vice-President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly Yang Hyong Sop, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Yong Il, Lieutenant General of the Korean People's Army Han Tong Gun, Secretary General of the Korean Committee of Anti-Imperialist Veteran Fighters An Yong Gi, officials concerned and KPA officers.
Han Tong Gun in his speech made at the banquet recalled that the party and government of China headed by Mao Zedong organized the Chinese People's Volunteers and dispatched them to the Korean front 56 years back, adding that Mao Anying dedicated his life at the age of 28 while fighting as an ordinary CPV fighter.
The DPRK-China friendship has steadily grown stronger under the special care of leader Kim Jong Il and President Hu Jintao, he said, stressing that the Korean people are satisfied to see the successful inheritance of the DPRK-China friendship, a precious legacy Kim Il Sung provided and handed down together with revolutionaries of the elder generation of China including Mao Zedong, the great leader of the Chinese people, to posterity.
Shao Hua in a speech said that the army and people of the DPRK have achieved great successes in the efforts to build a prosperous and powerful country and made progress in the work to improve the external environment in recent years, overcoming all difficulties by displaying the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude under the leadership of Kim Jong Il and the Workers' Party of Korea.
It is the common desire of the peoples of the two countries and in line with their fundamental interests to steadily develop the Sino-Korean friendship, she noted, and continued:
I and the families and relatives of the fallen CPV fighters and all other Chinese comrades together with the Korean comrades will make all efforts to boost the traditional relations of the Sino-Korean friendship, setting store by them.
