S. Korean Military Authorities' Spread of Sheer Misinformation about North Denounced
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The south Korean "government information sources" were recently reported to have provided media with sheer misinformation that the warships of the navy of the north side engaged in maneuvers have pledged themselves to "retaliate against the naval force of the south side" on its guard duty "when an appropriate opportunity presents itself." A spokesman for the Navy Command of the Korean People's Army, answering a question raised by KCNA on May 3 as regards the south Korean military authorities' smear campaign against the north, termed such invectives an intolerable insult and a blatant provocation against it.
The north side faithful to the noble idea of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration has always remained true to the agreement reached at the inter-Korean general-level talks to prevent any accidental clash on the West Sea. It is now directing special efforts to preventing the occurrence of undesirable incidents in the current blue crab catching season in particular.
The fiction of the north's "retaliation" floated by the south Korean military despite this hard fact only betrays its sinister intention to do harm to the north. The north side is greatly angered by the south Korean military's false propaganda as it echoed just what the U.S. imperialist warhawks uttered, dancing to their tune. Through such smear campaign the south Korean military authorities disclosed the undeniable fact that they are following the road of treachery at the instigation of the U.S. imperialists, not the road indicated by the joint declaration. The north considers the south Korean military's spread of such misinformation as a prelude to a fresh West Sea skirmish.
