Several events were held to commemorate the 116 th May Day. The Central Broadcasting Station on May 1 reported that workers had enjoyed artistic performances, musical concerts and athletic events.
A central meeting was held on the 60 th anniversary of the establishment of the General Federation of (North) Korean Scientists and Technicians, according to the Central Broadcasting Station on May 3. The organization was set up in order to organize and guide science technology activities and to disseminate science technology.
The Central Broadcasting Station reported on May 6 that the 21 st Central Scientific Technology Festival had been held.
Inter-Korean Affairs
The South and the North held the third working-level contact of the Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Promotion Committee in Gaeseong from May 3 to 4. Several matters were on the agenda: the trial operation of trains on the Gyeongui and Donghae Line and reconnection of inter-Korean railways, inter-Korean cooperation in the development of light industries and underground resources, and the timing and venue of the 12 th meeting of the Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Promotion Committee.
The South Korean Labor Organization Delegation paid a visit to Pyongyang from April 30 to May 3 and participated in a meeting with Pyongyang workers in Taesongsan Recreation Ground on May 1.
