Internal Affairs
Several Broadcasting Stations reported that Chairman Kim Jong-il inspected army unit 604, army unit 205, air force unit 814 and navy unit 406.
North Korea held a central meeting to report on the status of national affairs to mark the 13 th anniversary of Kim Jong-il’s election as Chairman of the National Defense Commission, according to the Central and Pyongyang Broadcasting Stations on April 8.
The Central and Pyongyang Broadcasting Stations reported on April 12 that the North Korean Government had held the fourth regular session of the 11 th term of the Supreme People’s Assembly.
Inter-Korean Affairs
The South and North Korean Red Cross Societies held the third joint tree-planting ceremony on Mt. Geumgang (the Diamond Mountains) from April 4-6.
Foreign Affairs
The Central Broadcasting Station reported on April 14 that the King of Cambodia would pay a visit to the North.
North Korea established diplomatic relations with Cambodia in February 1964. The two countries have reached an agreement on trade and commerce and signed a Protocol on Opening Air Routes between them. Exchanges and cooperation between the two countries have also expanded into other areas. Agreements on scientific technology and bilateral cultural cooperation were concluded on September 3, 1993 and a document on cultural exchanges was exchanged in March 2001.
