   Pyongyang, March 14 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il's work "On Having Correct Understanding of Nationalism" is a programmatic work which indicates a clear way for all the countries and nations to frustrate maneuvers of the imperialists for national obliteration and estrangement among nations and defend national independence, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today. It goes on:
    True nationalism is immediately patriotism today when people live and shape their destiny with their national states as units.
    Nationalism is an idea of national independence for defending the sovereignty of the country and the nation from the aggressive moves of the U.S. imperialists. Now the U.S. imperialists are resorting to crafty tactics to arrest the independent development of nations and achieve their ambition for domination. They claim that the idea of building an independent national state and patriotism are gnational prejudice behind the timesh and "globalization" and "integration" are the trend of the times under the present-day condition where science and technology are making fast progress and economic exchanges among countries are brisk on the global scale. Preposterous is the cry for the gintegrationh of the world involving politics, economy, ideology and culture today when each country and each nation are shaping their destinies with their own idea, system and culture.
    Nationalism is a patriotic idea of achieving the prosperity of the nation by its own efforts, opposing dependence on foreign forces.
    The U.S. imperialists are presenting a distorted picture of the realities, claiming that they are bringing economic revival to different countries and nations with what they call "prescriptionh and "aid". The "prescription" they are advertising is not a "panacea" for the rejuvenation of other's national economy and promotion of national reconciliation but a camouflage for covering up their aggressive and depredatory nature.
