U.S.-led Reckless Joint Military Exercises Blasted

    Pyongyang, March 13 (KCNA) -- The "Team Spirit" joint military exercises were a most dangerous DPRK-targeted test nuclear war in their nature, contents and scale, observes Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article carried 30 years since the U.S. imperialists launched the exercises together with the bellicose forces of south Korea. The south Korean authorities' plan to continue staging large-scale joint military exercises against the DPRK along with the U.S. is a criminal move against the nation, peace and reunification as it will chill the ardent desire of the fellow countrymen for reunification, escalate tension on the Korean Peninsula and do harm to the cause of independent reunification, the article notes, and goes on:
    Joint military exercises with foreign forces are quite contrary to the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration.
    Staging the joint military exercises with foreign forces explicitly means close "cooperation" with aggressive foreign forces in the political aspect. The above-said plan of the south Korean authorities is an outright breach of the joint declaration which calls for refraining from any "cooperation" with foreign forces in war and achieving cooperation for peace in the spirit of "By our nation itself". Joint war exercises with outside forces are the factor of exacerbating the tensions on the Korean Peninsula and bedeviling the inter-Korean relations. Intolerable are the joint military maneuvers intended to block the just cause of the Korean nation for peace and independent reunification of the country with provocative war gambles.
    If the south Korean authorities truly stand for the development of the inter-Korean relations and peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula, they should immediately cancel the projected joint military exercises harmful to them.
